In Safranbolu, which is on the World Heritage Cities list and where Ottoman culture and architecture has been tried to be kept alive for centuries, historical buildings with different cultural assets draw attention. Lutfiye Mosque, which the people call the 'Fugitive' Mosque, is among these buildings. One of the values of Safranbolu and open to worship for 137 years, its official name is 'Lutfiye', in the colloquial language 'Fugitive' Mosque attracts attention with both its architecture and its story. The mosque, whose inscription was reported to have been built by Muslubeyoğlu Hacı Hüseyin Hüsnü Efendi in 1880, preserves its originality to a large extent with its ceiling, wooden parapet and wooden minaret. The mosque is made of rubble stones on a rectangular plan and covered with a wooden cover over the stream passing under it. Historian and writer Aytekin Kuş from Safranbolu, He said that the mosque built in 1880 has two names, one of which is the 'Luftiye' mosque with its legal status, as the people say, 'Unlawful' Mosque. Bird told the story of the mosque, which is one of the unique mosques in Safranbolu in terms of architecture and operation, with the following words: “After a very long and arduous journey from the holy lands he went to for pilgrimage, Muslubeyoğlu Hacı Hüseyin Hüsnü Efendi, who was able to return to Safranbolu, said, "Blessing of God. He had the Lutfiye Mosque built here because he made the pilgrimage with him. The water coming out of a spring in the Akçasu creek passing under the mosque and coming to the fountain next to the mosque is cut off in some years due to the dryness of the source in very dry summer months. When the water source dries up and the water is cut off, in Safranbolu it is called 'water escape' among the people. For this reason, the mosque is called 'Fugitive Mosque' among the people. The fountain is called the 'Kaçak fountain', and the area is called the illegal district for the same reasons. Although the mosque is located in the illegal district and was named 'Lutfiye Mosque', this mosque has been known as the Fugitive Mosque among the people since 1880.
